Hampstead Farms and Ham and High have been selected to host an outdoor farm dinner as part of Outstanding in the Field's 2011 international culinary tour Oct. 13, 2011. The event marks Montgomery's first Outstanding in the Field dinner in the group's 12 year tour and the only Alabama dinner this year.
Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls. Since 1999 they've set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Their mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it. Ingredients for the meal are almost all local (sourced within inches of your seat at the table) and prepared by a celebrated chef of the region. After a tour of the farm, we all settle in: farmers, producers, culinary artisans, and diners sharing the long table.
Event details and tickets are available at www.outstandinginthefield.com. Limited tickets are available to this regional dinner, so claim yours before they're gone. We hope to see you around Alabama's table for an unprecedented evening in the field!
