The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum proudly announces its 18th Gala and Auction. Our annual fundraiser has become one of Cloverdale's most beloved social events, and will commence this year Saturday, March 3 at 7:00pm.
The 2012 theme, THE LAST OF THE BELLES, pays homage to Fitzgerald's classic 1928 short story of his unlikely courtship and marriage to Montgomery's hometown belle and blossoming flapper, Zelda Sayre.
The party will feature 20s and 30s drinks, a delicious dinner provided by King's Table Catering, "hot jazz" music by The Lo-Fi Loungers, and a silent auction with vacation packages, antiques, local art and jewelry. Costumes, whether flapper or belle, are encouraged (but not required).
Admission is $25 per person and $45 per couple. Advance Tickets can be purchased either on our website (http://fitzgeraldmuseum.net/gala), at the museum during operating hours, or by check sent to: The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum | 919 Felder Ave | Montgomery, AL 36106
The festivities continue March 4 when the Fitzgerald Museum partners with the Southern Literary Trail to bring The Last of the Belles to life. Our second annual Readers Theater, led by University of Alabama professor Don Noble and his wife, begins at 2pm, and stars three other University of Alabama professors and their wives. Admission is free.
Following the performance, Chicago actress Grace McPhillips and co-producer Bob Hudgins will talk about “Beautiful Little Fools”, a full-length feature film based on Zelda Fitzgerald set to be filmed in Montgomery later this year.
All events will be held in and on the Museum grounds, rain or shine. Security will be provided. Parking is free.
