From writing hits for other artists to recording her own, Nashville based singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman has truly embraced musical diversity. A breast cancer survivor, environmental activist, teacher of workshops and lecturer on the magic of creativity, which she believes is a birthright of everyone, Beth's passion, when you get right down to it is still 'the song'. She has penned numerous hits and written songs for many top artists including Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Bette Midler, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Michael McDonald, Amy Grant, Keb Mo', Roberta Flack, Faith Hill, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings.
Her recordings include "Sand & Water", written and recorded following the death of her husband from cancer in 1994, performed by Elton John on his 1997 U.S. tour, "Deeper Still", following her successful treatment for breast cancer in 2001. "This Kiss" ASCAP'S 1999 Song Of The Year, sung by Faith Hill garnered her a Grammy nomination and Nashville NAMMY'S 1999 Songwriter of the Year. "Back To Love", released in 2010 spawned 2 hits on BBC Radio 2: "Even As It All Goes By" and "How We Love". 2010 was a great year for Beth in the UK, starting with a performance at Abbey Road with Robert Plant and the 100 voice "London Oriana Choir" and ending with her October appearance at the Mermaid Theater in London with a 60 piece orchestra performing live on BBC's Friday Night Is Music Night.
Chapman will also be teaching a half-day songwriting workshop at the Hank Williams Museum the same Saturday from 10:30 to 1:30. Ticket holders to the Capri Theatre show will receive a $5.00 discount to the workshop.
